About AnyoneCanBuy

Twenty advertising slots where nobody at this end decides what anything is worth. Each holder names their own price, pays weekly rent against that same number, and can be bought out at it by anybody, at any moment.

The problem with every other paid board

On an ordinary pay-to-rank board your money is gone the moment somebody outspends you. The position was never really yours; you were renting attention from the operator and the operator kept everything. It rewards whoever can burn the most, and it turns stale the week the novelty wears off, because a one-time payment has no reason to recur.

What a self-assessed price fixes

Ask people to name their own price and they lie in whichever direction is free. Charge them rent on that same number and the lie costs them immediately. Let anyone buy at it and the other lie costs them the slot. Squeezed from both sides, the honest number is the only comfortable place to stand — and it is a number the holder chose, so being bought out pays them rather than burning them.

Where it comes from

Arnold Harberger proposed self-assessed property taxation in the 1960s; Eric Posner and Glen Weyl revived it in Radical Markets in 2018. It has been used for a handful of crypto art experiments. As far as we can tell nobody has run it on ordinary advertising slots that ordinary businesses would want, which is the only interesting way to find out whether it works.

What we take

The rent, and 5% of each sale. We do not take a cut of anything else and we do not sell your data. If the board is quiet we earn almost nothing, which is the correct incentive.

Honest about the rough edges

Payouts are credit on your email address, cashed out by hand when you ask. That is a real limitation, not a design choice we are proud of, and it is written into the rules rather than buried. Automatic bank payouts need identity verification we have not built yet.

Who runs it

Muddy Holdings LLC. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store card details.
