How it works

Everything, on one page. The mechanism is old and well studied — it just has not been pointed at a webpage before.

  1. 01

Twenty slots, each priced by whoever holds it

Every slot on the front page shows a name, a line, a link and a price. That price is not set by us. It is set by the person holding the slot, and it is the price at which anybody else can take it from them.

  2. 02

You pay rent on your own number

Holding a slot costs 5% of your own asking price per week, drawn continuously from a deposit you fund up front. Double your asking price and you double your rent. That is the entire reason the price stays honest.

  3. 03

Anyone can buy it, instantly, at your price

There is no bidding, no waiting and no approval. Somebody pays your number and the slot changes hands on the spot. You cannot refuse, and you cannot be underpaid — you chose the number.

  4. 04

    Being bought out pays you

When somebody takes your slot you receive your full asking price less 5% commission. This is the part that makes it different from every other paid board: losing your position is a payday, not a write-off.

  5. 05

Payouts are site credit, cashed out on request

Proceeds land as credit on your email address. You can spend it on another slot immediately, or ask us through the contact page to send it to you as money — we pay those by hand, usually within a few business days. We would rather say that plainly than pretend an automatic payout system exists.

  6. 06

Run out of deposit and the slot forecloses

Rent is taken from your deposit until it is empty. When it empties, the slot is released and reopens at one dollar for whoever wants it. Nothing is refunded at that point — the rent was the cost of holding it. The board warns you on the slot itself when the deposit is under a day.

  7. 07

You can reprice whenever you like

Raise your price to make yourself harder to buy out, and your rent rises with it. Lower it to slow the rent, and accept that somebody may take it cheaply. Repricing is done with the email address on the slot and is recorded in the public ledger.

  8. 08

If a slot moves while you are paying

Two people can start buying the same slot at once. Whoever's payment lands first gets it; the other payment is voided and refunded in full, automatically, because it was for a price and a holder that no longer exist.

  9. 09

    Links are nofollow

Every outbound link carries rel=sponsored nofollow. You are buying a position in front of people who are already here. You are not buying search rankings.

  10. 10

    This is not gambling

Nothing here is staked on chance. Every price is set by a person, shown before you pay, and paid to a person. There is no pot, no draw and no random outcome anywhere in the mechanism.

Where this comes from

A self-assessed price that doubles as a standing offer to sell is a Harberger tax, described by Arnold Harberger in the 1960s and revived in Radical Markets by Posner and Weyl. The idea is well known; running it on something people actually want has mostly not been tried.
